The Audacity of Laziness

by Samuel Febres

I cannot believe what I heard out of the mouth of some dude the other night. He was about 2 years younger than I at the age of 27 and an avid supporter of President Obama by his admission and the t-shirt he was wearing.

The talk naturally came to politics and he brought up that Obama had a lot of haters because of the ‘hope’ he was bringing with his administration and then he said something along the lines about how he’s (Obama) is ‘going to make everyone equal’ with regards to finances and how that’s why rich people were upset. They obviously had extra money and were upset about having to share their wealth. Excuse me!?

Someone, kindly said that they would probably be upset too if they had to pay all these extra taxes for working hard to get rich. The gentleman didn’t seem to worry much about that concern.

Later on in the evening we were talking again and he said he didn’t want to be rich and I said for kicks that I was going to be rich some day. His response was “let me know when you get there so I can come get mine.”

I told him I would teach him everything I did to get there.

His response? I don’t want all that.
