Combinations Tour, the follow-up.
by Samuel Febres
Last night’s concert at the Beta Bar was great. You Tallahassee folks missed out on a great concert if you didn’t make it out.
All four bands put on a great show, sounded great and seemed to enjoy the crowd, even though it certainly wasn’t as packed as it could’ve been (something that saddens me about Tallahassee is that nobody is interested in going to shows, but they complain that nobody comes through).

I finally got to check out The Myriad, who I learned about from Brody Harper, and they were awesome. I loved the sound and groove, the guitar and vocal work. The bass player was dope. I mean, it’s so refreshing to hear a bass player that knows how to set a good groove and stick with it. This guy played the bass, and wanted to with no desires to be a solo guitarist at all.
The Envy Corps opened up the show with a great song set up and attack. It was a bit of disco-rock-raggae groove kind of feel. Their song arrangements were well thought out and not predictible, which kept the music interesting and exciting. Really fun band and I hope they’ll continue to do better.
Vedera followed The Envy Corps. They sounded great and were a fun band to listen to. Strong vocals from the female front-man (?). Something that I thought was quite interesting was that the electric guitarist looked like Heath Ledger. No joke, that was kinda weird.
Eisley finally came out and did an excellent job. They sounded great instruments and vocals, despite the fact that they were recovering from a bad cold or the flu. They did quite a few favorites and you could hear the crowd singing along for many of the songs. I loved the way their vocals wove into, around, and through one another (they have 3 female singers).
All in all a great night, and I’m glad I was able to make it even though the show got started later than advertised (a Tallahassee tradition?).
They’re still on tour for a little bit longer so if you’re outside of Tally, check the schedule and see if these bands are swinging by.
On a side-note, I still really want a Vox AC-30 and a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 41.
